The Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters JTFPP has updated recommendations for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis SAR in adolescents and adults which are published online November 2 2017 in the Annals of Allergy Asthma Immunology. The guidelines recommend inhaled corticosteroids ICS alone rather than a combination of oral antihistamine and ICS as initial treatment for nasal symptoms of SAR in patients aged 12 years and older. In moderate to severe SAR in patients 15 years and older ICS is preferred over leukotriene receptor antagonist as initial treatment.
